Posted 7-28-2011 | By Sue Weiskopf-Larson
The regular property tax refund is available for renters with household income of less than $53,540 and homeowners with household income of less than $99,240. It is based upon household income and the amount on the 2011 property tax statement or 2010 renters credit (Form CRP).
Special Refund
A special property tax refund for homeowners with tax increases over 12% is also available. To qualify for this special refund you must meet the following requirements: 1) You owned and lived in the same home on January 2, 2010 and on January 2, 2011; 2) Your net 2011 property taxes (adjusted down for property improvements) must have increased by more than 12% over your net 2010 property taxes; and 3) The amount of the increase is $100 or more. If you feel you meet the above requirements and have not yet filed, send us your 2011 property tax statement or 2010 Form CRP as soon as possible.
